Since Sebastian Kurz is no longer Chancellor of Austria, he no longer appears in the media as often. Some may have even forgotten what he looks like. But he recently made a brief appearance on TV again. It was about his interrogation.

The former chancellor was questioned by the economic and corruption public prosecutor WKStA on Monday, November 28, 2022. We find out about this from several media outlets. The reason is the heavy burden on ex-ÖBAG boss Thomas Schmid in a confession. Kurz defends himself against the allegations and was interviewed by ORF. Since then, the following screenshots of the image have been shared on social media ( archive link here ):

Many people seem shocked: What happened to Kurz? Comments like “Sebastian Breit” or “bit out of touch” appear. Others, of course, smell the roast.

The fact check for this picture is “short” in the truest sense of the word. The original video with the former chancellor was published on ORF on November 28, 2022 ( can be seen here ). The comparison shows: Whoever it was, the screenshot that was distributed on social media is a manipulated version of a screenshot from the ORF video.

The intention behind the manipulation and who made the changes are currently not clear.
