Horst Seehofer is currently exposed to a lot of criticism and is of course at the center of the discussions. However, he did not say this sentence, as it is being spread on Facebook in the form of a meme.

“We have to give the term concentration camp a positive meaning again.” A harsh sentence. Behind this sentence you can read the name Horst Seehofer, who is also shown on the sharepic. In addition, the CSU logo can be seen at the bottom right of the picture.

The CSU logo? No, at least it is not the version of the logo that the CSU uses for memes on social media. Yes, the CSU also makes memes and they use a two-color version of the logo ( compare ).

How does this sentence even come about?

The sentence “We have to give the term concentration camp a positive meaning again.” is actually not entirely fictional, but is based on a statement by the former AfD politician Petry. This was described in more detail in a 2016 WELT article with the headline “Petry wants to give the term “national” a positive meaning.”

Therefore, work should be done to ensure that this term has a positive connotation again.

This gave rise to the demand: “We must give the term ethnic a positive meaning again.” , which was now put in a modified form into Horst Seehofer's mouth using a meme.
