Time and time again, innocent children are shamelessly exploited just for the desire of some page operators on Facebook!
Back in 2012 we reported on this brave little girl and, as we all know, the internet never forgets anything, the same photo appeared again 6 years later. This time it was published on June 1, 2018 by the site “TweeBuzz”. Once again we are playing with the emotions of the users, because the creator wrote:
“IL N'Y A PERSONNE QUI PRIE POUR MOI ;(
S'IL VOUS PLAIT 1 J'AIME, AMEN et PARTAGE”
However, for most Facebook users, the content is automatically translated by Facebook and we get the following to read:
“There is no one to pray for me ;(
Please 1 like, amen and share”
And tens of thousands responded to this call. The status post has received over 22,000 “likes” and over 6,000 comments on Facebook to date. Apart from that, it has now been shared almost 59,000 times.
This girl has a name. Her name is Serafina!
Here we see a very sweet and brave girl named Serafina. She has a wonderful family behind her. Serafina, then 22 months old, had to undergo heart surgery Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago
Serafina is a big “Hello Kitty” fan!
A few days later, Serafina recovered very quickly from the operation and proudly strutted down the hospital corridor wearing her “Hello Kitty” slippers. The photo that her mother took was also taken at this moment. Sean Murphy, her father, published the picture on the “Reddit” platform and also on Instagram on October 21, 2012.
The picture was now quickly published on many sites, including Facebook, and always only in connection with the aforementioned “like lust”. The creators of such distorted reports don't care about the girl's story and life, they just want to increase her likes and interactions, which they keep doing, which is something very negative.
But there are also a lot of positive things to report!
Serafina has completely recovered from the operation. The father himself was so grateful to the hospital that he started a fundraiser that raised around $3,000 and gave it to the hospital. Thanks to the attention of many users, the owners of “Hello Kitty” also found out about it and sent Serafina various “Hello Kitty” items.
Finally, a few words from the father!
When asked if he liked that his daughter's picture was being used for "like lust," he replied, "No, but he believes that this photo has become a symbol for those whose lives have been affected in some way, “is characterized by a congenital heart defect”.
Not the first time!
It is not the first time that sick children have been exploited and paraded for “liking” on Facebook. Many still remember the “baby with the cancerous tumor”.
It is THE PICTURE that every Facebook user probably knows. It is THE IMAGE, which basically already belongs to Facebook just like the “Like” button. It's about the little boy who supposedly has cancer!
But it was not like that! At that time (2005) the boy had a hematoma.
Exclusive interview with the Ettore family!
In 2014 we were given the opportunity to conduct an interview with the affected family. So if you want to know exactly.
Here is the interview again , which confirms that this boy does not have cancer, is no longer a baby, that they did not receive a single cent from Facebook and how the family feels about the fact that this photo was misused for “like lust”.
