On Facebook, users often receive friend requests from attractive young women. However, the requests lead to very dubious WhatsApp groups.

Such Facebook profiles are actually not allowed, and in many cases Facebook deletes the profiles quite quickly. Nevertheless, there are always users who accept such friend requests and then receive more or less direct messages from these “ladies”.

In this case, the creator of the profile tries to lure the user into a WhatsApp group. But in the end they all end up on dubious websites with explicit content.

This is what these requests look like:

In most cases, the profile pictures are stolen. It is not uncommon for even well-known Instagram personalities to be used for these fake profiles.

What kind of WhatsApp group actually?

Anyone who follows the link that supposedly leads to a WhatsApp group will arrive at a different-looking website depending on their country of origin. Although it has the title “WhatsApp Group Single 18+” – this website has nothing to do with a real WhatsApp group.

In most cases, the user should then pay for the website’s services. So if you want to have “sex dates in Vienna”, you have to pay money to see these ladies and be able to make contact.

What else can happen? For example, you could fall into a subscription trap. As in the case of the “Date4Friend AG” site, according to the law firm Dr. Hoffmann was sent a reminder letter very quickly by the operator.

In addition, you usually have to provide your data. Even if you don't use the dating portal, the site operators know your email address and can from now on spam you.

Conclusion

These friend requests only serve to attract users to a – usually paid – dating portal. There is no real WhatsApp group and in most cases the profile identity is simply stolen.

Behind these requests lies a tough business model designed to take money out of users’ pockets!
