The widespread Sharepic shows real headlines of various articles, but this also presents the problem: it is impossible to form an opinion about something if you only read the headlines. With this article we in no way want to defend the currents and statements within the parties at the time, but we do want to show that a little more knowledge of the background is necessary in order to really be able to form an opinion - because it wasn't the entire parties that were responsible for pedophilia supported, but some movements and individuals did!
The Sharepic
In the best case, (political) sharepics should be informative, but in this case the information content is barely enough for regulars' table slogans:

The sharepic comments on the four headlines of the articles from “Focus” and “Welt”: “ Back then they fought for unpunished sex with children. Today they rule the country. “
The articles
Everyone can get their own idea of what exactly is in the articles; we have linked them here:
- Researcher: FDP also wanted to legalize sex with children (Focus, July 30, 2014)
- Researchers: This is how the Greens fought for free child sex for years (Focus, September 27, 2021)
- The FDP youth also had a pedophilia problem (Welt, August 11, 2013)
- Greens apparently had a big heart for pedophiles (Welt, May 12, 2013)
The statements in the 1980s
In fact, currents within the Green Party, which emerged from the pedophile movement in the mid-1970s, advocated impunity for sexual intercourse between adults and minors. This was also documented in great detail in a study by the Göttingen Institute for Democracy Research and the Georg-August University of Göttingen. The PDF document with the study was also on the Green Party's server for years and can still be downloaded via Wayback Machine (see HERE ) .
At the beginning of the 1980s, parts of the Green Party tried to change the sexual criminal law. The impunity of pedophile relationships should be anchored in the party program. Sex between parents and children is not explicitly mentioned, but sexual relationships between adults and children/young people are mentioned.
In 2016, the Greens published a document that was over 300 pages long called “ Reappraisal and Responsibility ,” which addressed many very controversial points in their policy at the time.
This is what it says on pages 11 and 12:
“In the debate about the decriminalization of sexual criminal law, there was an attempt by pedophile interest groups in the Green Party, especially in the early 1980s, to anchor the impunity of pedophile relationships in the political program. One thing is clear to us: These demands were never acceptable. Consequences should have been drawn much earlier.”
The Green Party politician Daniel Cohn-Bendit also attracted attention for his dubious statements in the 1980s, which we reported on in a separate article (see HERE ).
In the course of the study at the time, the FDP also came into focus, but not the entire party, but rather a current and individual people: the FDP youth organization “Young Democrats” and the then FDP General Secretary Günter Verheugen.
Both campaigned for a change in the sexual criminal law in favor of pedophiles, but no decisions were made in this regard. Nothing more happened because the youth organization separated from the FDP in 1982 and Verheugen switched to the SPD.
Let's summarize
In the 1980s there were actually calls in both parties, both from within the parties and from individuals, to change the sexual criminal law in favor of pedophiles. This never happened, especially with regard to the Greens, the demands and statements made at the time were dealt with comprehensively and transparently.
It is now up to everyone to decide for themselves whether the demands of movements and individuals from 40 years ago can really be transferred to today's parties - especially if this comes from a party and its voters that is itself repeatedly embroiled in scandals and by “pointing fingers” at the mistakes of other parties from 40 years ago, they may only want to distract from their own mistakes.
