Crizpy: Let's put social media where it's most fun.

Many people enjoy a daily shower in the morning and/or evening. But is daily showering actually good for us? Dermatologists agree: daily showering is not necessary and can even damage the skin.

Daily showering can weaken the skin's protective acid mantle. This makes the skin more susceptible to harmful microorganisms and dries out more quickly. This promotes the development of pimples and acne. Washing your hair every day can also cause the scalp to start producing extra oils. This leads to greasy and stringy hair, which you actually want to avoid.

According to dermatologists, it is therefore completely sufficient to shower every two to three days. Sweaty areas such as feet, armpits and the intimate area can also be washed daily. However, you should make sure to use soap with as few fragrances, colors and preservatives as possible. A damp washcloth is sufficient for the rest of the body. If you still don't want to miss out on your daily shower, you should shower for less than four minutes and not too hot. In any case, you should also use pH-neutral products and a washcloth. Otherwise, according to the experts, the skin may react with redness and itching.
