If you suddenly have blisters and reddened areas on your hands or even on your face, and the whole thing itches on top of that, you quickly think of an allergy. But it might not quickly occur to you that it could be against nail polish or artificial fingernails.

The trigger: acrylic plastic components. The hardened plastic is used as a binding agent in nail polish - or to harden or attach artificial fingernails. The consequences can occur not only on the hands, but also on the face.

Even breathing difficulties are possible. Anyone who notices such symptoms should go to a dermatologist - because he or she can determine whether the problems actually originate in the nail salon.

And then? Well, it's easiest to forego these forms of nail care, and that will put an end to the itching and redness. For attaching artificial fingernails, there are e.g. B. also acrylate-free gel.

Although it can also contain many other substances that cause allergies, acrylates are much more severe in terms of the allergy risk - so it may be worth a try. If you want to know what you're literally messing with, all you have to do is ask at the nail salon and have them show you the ingredients.

By the way: The quality of your own nails can suffer if artificial nails are attached. Especially if cavities form between the natural and artificial nail, hidden bacteria and fungi can grow and multiply. The result is extremely unsightly.
