In this case, a Facebook page called “Little House” promises five mini houses, completely free! The only 'catch'? A few 'small scratches'. You just write “Thanks” in the comments by July 20th, and voilà – you could be the lucky owner of a new home!

It seems too good to be true, right?
That's it too. Below we shed light on the dark side of such Facebook competitions and uncover the unscrupulous practices behind them.
The seductive trap of Facebook competitions
Facebook competitions like that of “Little House” are widespread and lure people with supposed dream prizes. Who wouldn't want to win a new house - just with a simple comment on Facebook? In fact, such competitions often serve to lure unsuspecting users into a trap.
The bait: mini houses with 'little scratches'
Admittedly, the offer is tempting. The prospect of a tiny house for free, albeit with minor defects, is difficult for many to resist. And who knows? Maybe someone has just had bad luck with quality control and prefers to give these homes away rather than throw them away. At least that's the theory.
The catch: your data
However, the true price of this supposedly generous offer is high. As soon as you write “Thank you” and take part in the supposed competition, you will automatically receive a message via Facebook Messenger. Here you will be asked to answer a question. Finally, you will receive a link that will take you to a typical competition form.

Data trading behind the scenes
At first glance, filling out the competition form seems harmless. But by registering and submitting your data, you have opened the door to unwanted advertising calls, SMS, spam emails and subscription offers.

One data set, countless possibilities
The information you willingly provide is compiled into 'records'. And these records can be sold over and over again. And who is the new owner of this data? This can be anyone – from advertising companies to less reputable players. Your personal data becomes a commodity in a digital marketplace that never rests.
The Real Business of Facebook Sweepstakes
It turns out that the “little house” with the “little scratches” was just a decoy, a means to an end. The operators of such sites are not in the real estate business, but rather in data collectors and traders. And this business is booming. Every click, every comment, every voluntary disclosure of data feeds this growing market.
Conclusion
The old sayings are still valid: If something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
And a “free” tiny house definitely falls into that category. It is important that we all remain vigilant and informed to protect ourselves from such practices. After all, some of the best things in life are those that don't give us unwanted sales calls or spam emails.
