These tips from our cooperation partner Kaspersky Lab will make your smartphone fit against fraudsters
90% thinking and 10% technology – that's Kasperky Labs' secret recipe for worry-free use of your smartphone.
Original instead of a cheap copy
Anyone who only downloads apps from the official Google Play Store and also deactivates installation from suspicious sources is already on the safe side. You also have the advantage here that Google Play keeps an eye on the developers of the apps it offers. Information about a developer and their previous work can be found in the description of the desired app.
And what do you think about it?
Reading reviews from other users provides useful information about the seriousness of the developer. On the other hand, apps that only have positive reviews are dubious - real people mention problems. If apps have already been downloaded by millions of users, that's a good sign. It turns out that these apps are more trustworthy.
Less is more
If you store dozens of apps on your smartphone and never tidy them up, you run the risk of “overloading” the device. Even if you are not using an app, it can run in the background and possibly cause problems. The operating system and apps should of course be up to date - because regular updates close security gaps!
Anyone who manages their finances via their smartphone should definitely consider two-factor authentication. In addition to the password, a unique code is required, which makes it more difficult for criminals to access the program.
Behind closed doors
Anyone who likes to surf on public networks quickly runs the risk of becoming a victim of a cyber attack. Online shopping and banking in particular are taboo on public networks. If you really want to be on the safe side, you should generally get protection in the form of a mobile anti-malware solution or security app. There are also free versions that provide good basic protection.
