A user reported to us that she had received such an SMS message. An item that was supposedly purchased should be in delivery. This should be confirmed.

At first glance, the links seem anything but trustworthy.

What is behind the link in the SMS?

We looked at where the links lead. In our experience, such dubious messages are usually about phishing, subscribing or downloading malware.

The latter probably applies to this link. Here we first get the following message: “For better search results, please update to the latest Chrome version.”

Even if we don't even tap "Ok" here but return immediately, we get a second message:
"The file could be harmful. Do you still want to download chrome.apk (0.00 KB)?”

Do not download!

Of course not. – In the worst case scenario, you could download malware onto your cell phone.

Even if you use Chrome on your smartphone, you should make updates - if there are any - via Google Play .

What should you do if you receive a message like this?

Even if you have recently purchased something and believe that the message is related to that purchase, you should not react hastily to such a message.

The sender - an inconspicuous Austrian mobile phone number - gives no indication that the SMS comes from a shop or shipping company. The cryptic link in the message speaks volumes: such links are not used by reputable companies.

Therefore: under no circumstances click on the link, but rather ignore, delete and possibly block the sender.
