The group integrates four small applications from third-party providers – “super app” based on the China model
The social media group Snapchat offers third-party providers a platform for smaller, simple applications with the new “Snap Minis” feature in its own app. A set of four mini apps is already available on Snapchat. These include the meditation aid “Headspace”, the learning application “Flashcards”, the gaming app “Prediction Master” and the decision assistant “Let's Do It”.
Snpachat wants to be a “super app”.
“Snap Minis is a new way for developers to integrate their services with Snapchat and deliver new social experiences. We designed the minis to be deeply integrated into users’ conversations,”
says Snapchat. With this innovation, the group wants to take up the “super app” concept, which is particularly popular in China and serves as a platform for smaller services.

Headspace helps users to meditate digitally with friends. Flashcards allows users to learn languages, among other things, from a distance in a team. Let's Do It helps make decisions in a group and Prediction Master asks users various questions to which they have to answer with the most accurate prediction possible. In addition to the four available minis, three more small apps are planned.
Tencent as a source of inspiration
Snapchat wants to involve its users more closely with different services without them having to leave the app. The Chinese gaming group Tencent in particular inspired the platform to make these changes. The popular Tencent application “WeChat” has more than a million mini-apps on its platform.
