Why “inside” power strips?

While break resistance and surge protection are the focus of indoor power supply solutions, additional factors must be outdoors : cables and plug connections must be protected against splash water, the ingress of foreign bodies, UV light and low temperatures. Or in short: inside has to be able to do less and is therefore cheaper.
