I'm sure you're lucky too: you don't play in any lottery, but you keep winning millions.
This is what happens to many users. There is currently another email like this circulating that is hard to beat in terms of “credibility”:

“Dear winners,
You are one of the lucky winners of the international lottery celebrated in Madrid Spain.
Open the attached document to view your notification letter. Congratulations.MARIA GARCIA”
So we receive a message from a (probably fake or hijacked) Polish email address that we have won an international Spanish lottery.
Makes perfect sense.
Attached is a PDF file that will provide us with more detailed information. We don't want to withhold the content from you, but be careful: the design takes some getting used to, to say the least:

So this is a “final official winning notification”, according to which the user has won 3.5 million euros, just like that.
Of course, such a message comes directly from the desk of the vice president, who not only doesn't have a name himself, but also doesn't know the user's name, which is why you have to tell him everything. You should also agree to give away 5% of the profits because... that's it.
Because that's what it says. To do this, you should call a telephone number abroad and fill out a form.
A quick note is that the number you should call is from Portugal.
If you call there you will reach a call center. The area code and the first six numbers can be found in many emails and postings offering cheap loans. Calls from these numbers are also known as advertising calls in Spain and Portugal. Here's an example:

Keyword: advance fee fraud
These emails have been circulating since at least 2012. In 2014 we reported on a similar email in which almost exactly the same amount was allegedly won. Such emails are what is known as “advance fee fraud”, a crimonological term for a type of fraud.
What is characteristic of this type of fraud is the promise of large winnings, be it the inheritance of an unknown relative, a crown prince who wants to bring his money to Europe or, as in this example, a lottery win. What happens when you contact us is the following: The user has to submit his data and pay an advance of several hundred euros as “administrative fees” so that he can get the profit.
Don't respond and delete!
Even if you only reply to this email, you have a problem: the fraudsters know that your email has been read and will bombard you with further emails. Because then they know that there is a potential fraud victim sitting at the computer who might be able to get money out of his pocket using other methods.
