Fraudsters pretend to be a savings bank and send fake emails. They are after the data of Sparkasse customers.

Both customers and users who are not Sparkasse customers are currently receiving an email claiming that the account has been deactivated. In order to reactivate the account, the person concerned should check the user data and then log in and even confirm the login with a TAN if necessary.

Caution! The motive behind this pretext is a phishing attempt!

The message in full:

Hello %Salutation% %Lastname%,

Your account has been deactivated. You cannot currently send/receive payments or withdraw money. The Savings Banks and Giro Association is currently checking the user data for each of its customers. Our system has determined that your data is out of date and unconfirmed.

In order to reactivate your account and be able to use all Sparkasse services as usual, please check your user data immediately. Please log in via your online banking and confirm your login with a tan if necessary. You can then send/receive payments and withdraw money again.

Carry out verification

We ask for your understanding. If you have any questions, please contact customer service.

Best regards

Your savings bank and giro association customer service

Analysis in detail:

The strange salutation alone fuels our mistrust. Of course we want to know exactly and click the button. Our Kaspersky online protection works immediately and warns us of potential data loss.

Anyone who does not have online protection will be redirected to a Sparkasse website that looks very deceptively real. But be careful, this website is also a fake! It's worth taking a look at the URL , because the address is often very obviously different from the official website address.

Conclusion

Recipients of this email who are not Sparkasse customers will be surprised and simply delete the email. Nevertheless, there are many who are actually Sparkasse customers and click on the link without knowing anything.

If you have entered your data on such a fake site, inform the savings bank immediately and have your account actually blocked!
