A colleague from the Frankfurt am Main police lost his wife after the birth of their twins. The GwP Hessen collects donations.
Call for donations from GwP Hessen – the most important thing to start with:
- An internal letter asks for a donation for a colleague whose wife died after giving birth to their twins.
- The message includes details of the colleague and his wife's story and ways to donate to them.
- It is a true story. The GwP Hessen actually calls for donations.
We received inquiries about a letter that came from the Frankfurt am Main police headquarters and was a call for donations. A colleague lost his wife during the birth of their twins. The message looks like this:

We mourn the loss of a young mother
On ***** our colleague […], who works at the Criminal Investigation Department at the Frankfurt Police Headquarters, became the father of twins.
After wanting to have children for a long time, his wife became pregnant and was due to give birth to their children in February 2020. However, over the course of the past weekend, the physical condition of the heavily pregnant woman and one of the children suddenly deteriorated, so that the little ones had to be delivered by cesarean section on *****. The operation saved the child's life and both children are now doing well.

The fact check
Yes, the Hesse police union is collecting donations for a colleague whose wife died giving birth to their twins:
Our colleague from the Frankfurt criminal police was hit by a serious blow of fate when his wife died giving birth to twins in January. Of course, money cannot bring back our colleague's wife or the twins' mother, but we are still asking for donations to help our colleague at least a little in this difficult hour.
The donations will of course be forwarded to the family without deductions and can now be transferred to the Frankfurt Police Social Ring account under account number DE25 5009 0500 0005 9509 10. We wish the family a lot of strength for the coming time!
When asked, the Frankfurt am Main police confirmed that the letter requested above was an internal communication that was forwarded to the outside world.
Conclusion:
Unfortunately, this tragic story is true and yes, the police asked for donations for the affected colleague in mid-January 2020. We wish everyone involved all the best for the future and hope that the donations can help our colleague.
