Fraudulent fundraisers from Romania kept the Rotenburg police on their toes on Tuesday.
They appeared in front of several shopping markets in the Altkreis as a group of supposedly disabled people. They primarily targeted older customers and aggressively asked for money.
In this context, signature lists were also presented to those wishing to donate. A Rotenburg police patrol crew was able to pick up the group in the parking lot of the supermarket on Vahlder Weg in the morning. The officers found numerous donation lists and cash from the two men and two women aged 20, 24, 27 and 40 and confiscated everything.
“These people are undoubtedly fraudsters who go around the country and cheat unsuspecting people out of their money. We know them well enough as criminals,” warns Rotenburg police spokesman Heiner van der Werp.
According to him, it is not uncommon for trick thefts to occur below the donation lists. While those willing to donate are signing, money is stolen from their wallets. The police urgently appeal to you not to comply with these requests for donations and to call the emergency number immediately. ( source )
