Users receive a letter from the “Spotify invoice” sender that simulates a problem with their payment, reports our cooperation partner Watchlist Internet . In the email you will be asked to click on a button. This then leads to a fake Spotify login page. Data that is entered there ends up directly with criminals. You will then most likely lose access to your Spotify account. Reset your password immediately after entering your details!

The exact wording of the fraudulent email is:

We cannot bill you.

We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there's a problem with your preferred payment method.
Follow these steps to help us resolve this issue.

Your invoice

Under no circumstances should you click on the “Your invoice” button. You end up on a fake login page! After you have logged in, your credit card details will be requested.

Real or fake? How to detect fraudulent emails

Never prematurely click on a link or button in an email. First check whether the letter is serious and actually comes from the listed sender!

  • Spelling errors, grammatical errors, capitalization errors: This Spotify email is almost error-free. But if you look closely, you will find errors in capitalization and lowercase letters in the subject. Remember: Real emails are always error-free!
  • Sender Email Address: View the sender email address. In this case: rechnung1@application.com. For the first time, this email address says nothing about the sender. Therefore: Search the email address with “Spotify” added on the Internet to find out whether it is an official email address for the company. You can also compare the email address with an old Spotify email. If the email address is completely implausible, it is fake!
  • Reason for writing: Always question the reason for writing. Check your account to see if the claim is true. Log in via the web version and go to the “Receipts” tab. If you don't find any information about an outstanding payment, it is a fraudulent email. Additionally, Spotify will never ask you to submit personal information via email. You will also be informed about this on the support page.
  • Link: Check where the “Your invoice” button leads. To do this, place the mouse indicator on the field. But don't click on it! You will then see which internet address is linked to. In this case, the link is to “https://amitys.de/usaled/44e50d6b66fba750c967c2977131f004/home.php” – a completely implausible address!

I have entered my details – what can I do?

  • Reset your password immediately !
  • Ca n't access your account anymore? Contact Spotify .
  • Have you entered credit card details? Contact your credit card company and explain that you have been the victim of a scam.
  • Forward the scam email to Spotify: spoof@spotify.com
  • Report it to the police!
