Spring has begun and with it a popular travel time. But we must not forget: the disruption caused by the coronavirus is not over yet! Some corona-related restrictions still need to be observed. To avoid unnecessary travel hassle, you should find out about the local rules in advance.

True to the motto “Spring time is travel time,” many people want to travel again; In keeping with this, the Corona restrictions have been relaxed. Whether by plane, on cruises or by bus and train.

“There is currently no longer any Corona-related travel warning from the Foreign Office,” says Parsya Baschiri, consumer rights advisor at the Bremen Consumer Center and adds: “Nevertheless, there are still restrictions that need to be observed. This includes, for example, the general 3G rule that applies to travelers returning from abroad.”

What you should consider when traveling

There may also be travel warnings or stricter travel restrictions at short notice.

Therefore, before and during a trip abroad, travelers should check with the Federal Foreign Office and on the websites of the German diplomatic missions abroad to find out which restrictions currently apply at their holiday destination. If the Foreign Office also issues a travel warning for the holiday destination, consumers can usually cancel the trip free of charge if it is a package holiday

There have also been relaxations for travel within Germany since March 4, 2022. Parsya Baschiri explains: “The 3G rule now also applies to overnight accommodation offers. However, the situation can also change at short notice in Germany. It is therefore advisable to find out about the current conditions for tourist overnight stays at your destination.”

The Bremen consumer advice center also gives tips to ensure that your holiday joy doesn't go astray. There will also be an online lecture on the topic “Avoid travel hassles – what you should pay attention to”. If you would like to know more about the topic of “avoiding travel hassles”, you can register here for the free online lecture by the Bremen Consumer Center on March 31, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.
