Not for people with a fear of heights and a wider circumference: this staircase is only very narrow and spirals up to very lofty heights.
A short video that one of the visitors took with a selfie stick while climbing the stairs is enough to give many users dizziness.

The creator of the video, Tom Sägling, kindly contacted us. He first posted the video on his Instagram account , which contains many other fascinating nature photos and videos. For this reason, we are now showing the original video by Tom Sägling here. The big question (which is answered in the original post) for many who want to climb these steps: Where is this tower?
[mk_ad]
Off to Sri Lanka!
Incomprehensibly, the boss only acknowledged a planned business trip to Sri Lanka with a loud laugh, which is why we cannot show you our own pictures of the Ambuluwawa Temple in Gampola, to which this tower belongs.
When viewed from below, it doesn't look that high, but that's how it is: it's only when you look at it from above that you get dizzy.

But it's always a matter of perspective, because from a little further away you can see better how much the tower rises and sometimes even disappears into the clouds:

However, the tower is only the outstanding landmark of the region, because the temple, which is 1087 meters above sea level, has a long history. The town of Gampola alone is steeped in history , having been a kingdom and the capital of Sri Lanka in the 13th century under the rule of King Bhuwanekabahu IV.
Since 2009, Ambuluwawa has been a biodiversity complex and multi-religious center of Sri Lanka, consisting of a Buddhist temple, a Christian church, a kovil (Hindu temple) and a mosque. A visit is worth it, and not just to climb the tower!
