Crizpy: Let's put social media where it's most fun.

Michaela Mogath photographs star children. An emotional job – which is very important for parents.

Star children are babies who die before, during or shortly after birth.
Parents often only have a fleeting memory. Michaela Mogath from Ebern, Franconia volunteers as a star child photographer to give parents a tangible reminder of their child.

Mogath first came into contact with a star child during her training as a nurse.
After finding out a lot about the topic, she applied to be a photographer for star children. One and a half years after applying, Manuela Mogath's first assignment came. She has now photographed 87 star children. The children are often still in the delivery room, but Mogath has also taken photos in the room or at the undertaker's. She often chooses the head, as well as hands and feet or birthmarks as her motif. But she also tries to take photos of the child with the parents. Some people don't want to see their child at all and only find access to the child later through the photos. The highly emotional missions can last from five minutes to three hours. After an appointment, Mogath processes the images on the same day in order to be able to complete them. A workshop with the topic “It is not your fate what you see” as well as writing reports about each mission also help her to process what she has experienced.

Michaela Mogath bears all of her own costs. There are no expenses for the parents. For the Franconian woman, this is a humanitarian gift to the parents, because through the pictures the star child becomes part of the family and remains in tangible memory.
