We know it: a bold fake is spread, it is seen through, and people immediately defend themselves by saying that it is “just satire”.
This is also the case with a fake cover of a “Stern” magazine: apparently just a year ago he was called the “King of Lies”. Satire is an art form. But this fake is not one of them.

The fake Zelensky cover

The sharepic shows a magazine cover from “Stern” with Selenskyj, including the caption “ Volodymyr Selenskyj – King of Lies ”.

The fact check

Individual issues can be reordered on the “Stern” website, and you can also see all the covers of previous issues in the overview. The current overview (see HERE ) goes back to issue 41/2020, but Zelenskyj can only be seen issue 11/2022

Let's put the fake and the real cover next to each other:

The comparison of the covers

In the case of the fake, which supposedly appeared a year ago but actually dates from March 2022, not even the date at the top left was changed. Interestingly, the corners of the mouth were pulled down and the eyebrows were raised a little, and “Hero of Freedom” was changed to “King of Lies”.

The announcement of the other articles also remained unchanged - which doesn't make sense, because why should "Stern" write an article a year ago ("Soldiers in sweatpants") that was about the military defense of Kiev?

Conclusion

Satire is an art form that criticizes, mocks or denounces people, events or conditions.
Typical stylistic devices of satire are exaggeration as exaggeration or understatement as deliberate trivialization to the point of ridiculous or absurd. But this also means that everyone recognizes the satire as such.
But if it is only afterwards, after a fake has been exposed, that it is claimed that it is “just satire”, then this is just a typical scam that many fake spreaders use to clear their name… and then spread further fakes in further postings . No, you are not satirists. Just spreaders of fakes.
