Supershots are trending. When it comes to health, consumers are also willing to spend more money. The small bottle of fruit juice costs between 0.54 euros and 4.98 euros per 100 milliliters. If you extrapolate that to the price per liter, it would be almost 50 euros for the trendy product.

Supershot from Hohes C

Market leader high C sells a Supershot that consists of orange, mango, turmeric extract and Madagascar ginger. The main ingredient is apple juice. Dr. Britta Schautz, nutritionist from the Berlin Consumer Center, explains that there are no clear guidelines as to how much of the ingredients that are advertised must be included.

Organic ginger shot from the Für brand

The Supershot even consists of 78 percent apple juice. The manufacturer Voelkel's reasoning: A shot with, for example, 50 percent ginger juice would be inedible. Dr. Britta Schautz sees it differently, because the manufacturer also sells pure ginger juice - a good way for the manufacturer to save money.

Ginger shot from True Fruits

In addition to 41 percent apple juice, this shot also consists of eight percent agave syrup. Agave syrup is just another form of sugar and has an almost identical effect in the body. Since the shot contains 13 grams, you would drink more than four sugar cubes.

Ginger root with good ingredients

The ginger root contains many good ingredients such as pungent substances, essential oils, vitamin C and minerals. It is a medicinal plant that helps with motion sickness, nausea or vomiting, for example. But it is advertised as immune-boosting for healthy people. Dr. Rainer Stange, senior doctor in the department of naturopathy at the Immanuel Hospital in Berlin and the Charité, explains that there is no evidence of this so far. The immune effect is therefore questionable.

Conclusion

The small bottles don't quite do what they promise. Even if they are very expensive, the demand is still high.
