At the NATO summit, EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker apparently had problems walking and standing alone, as numerous videos and photos show.
In this video you can see Juncker apparently taking small steps and being supported by two employees.
Many users are of the opinion that Juncker looked a little too deeply into the glass, but this is contradicted by several people.
Euronews reports!
As eurnoews reports, Juncker has often complained about sciatica problems in the past. Portugal's Prime Minister Antonio Costa and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte also confirmed that Juncker was currently suffering from back problems, but that he was "otherwise in excellent shape".
Now one can speculate: Did Juncker actually have back problems at the time or had he drunk too much?
A combination is also possible, namely that he drank something for the back pain. The way he walks allows for both speculations, so with sciatica pain you can only walk slightly bent forward with small steps, it also helps to be supported when standing or to hold on to something. However, this also applies to walking while drunk.
Does the speculation lead to anything?
Actually not. Depending on your opinion, you can be upset about it or feel sorry for it. You can say “Hihi, a drunk politician,” but you should only do that if you yourself have never been drunk in public. You can also say, “Poor man, I know back problems like this all too well,” when you know how painful sciatica can be.
But you can also just leave it alone. Because no matter what (health) problem someone has, it is simply a matter of etiquette not to make fun of it in public. It doesn't matter whether it's a Gauland in swimming trunks or a swaying Juncker.
When contacted by Euronews, an EU Commission spokesman declined to comment. Such health issues are not discussed publicly.
