Such tea light ovens have recently been touted as a heating alternative and are sometimes offered at very high prices: on Amazon, for example, an oven for six tea lights costs around 50 euros , while on eBay almost identical models for four tea lights cost around 20 euros . But there are also enough instructions to build such an oven yourself .
But are four to six tea lights and two flower pots really enough to replace a heater? Rather not!
+++UPDATE: Please read our current article on this topic HERE +++

Simple physics
Don't worry, we won't come up with complicated calculation formulas, we'll just show you the illogicality:
A single tea light has around 30 to 40 watts . With four to six candles burning, we have a heat output of 120 to 160 watts - not exactly exciting when you consider that heaters , depending on their size .
What the flower pots are all about
So you can't really heat up a room with 120 to 160 watts, but there are still the flower pots above the candles. Maybe they do something special?
According to the law of conservation of energy, when a tea light burns, the combustion energy is converted into light and heat. A large part of the heat migrates into the flower pots placed above the candles. And then?
The flower pots do not have the magical ability to multiply the heat energy of the candles, so the heat output remains at 120 to 160 watts. But they serve another purpose: the flower pots store the heat and release it slowly.
The warming effect is homeopathic
In other words: it doesn't go beyond the placebo effect.
If you place a tea light stove next to you on your desk, the soothing flickering of the candles will automatically make you feel more “homely” and warmer – and also because you are close to the heat source.
But as soon as you take two steps away from the tealight oven, it gets cold again because the heat doesn't radiate very far given the low power. At best, the room could be slightly warmed by placing up to 10 of these stoves in the room.
But be careful: more candles not only mean an increased risk of fire, but also increased oxygen consumption. After a while it can get quite stuffy in the room, so you have to ventilate it - which means that the heat you gain is immediately lost again.
Conclusion
Having a tealight oven in your room just adds a nice ambience, but calling it an “oven” is a huge exaggeration. The principle is similar to that of tiled stoves, but the heat output from the flower pots is far too low to heat a room.

Oh yes, the typical summer sounds: birdsong, crickets chirping, lawn mowers... and the melodic clap of hands on skin when a mosquito bites.
Why do we need these critters anyway? – Why do we need mosquitoes at all?
