At the beginning of May, the beta version of the Telegram app on iOS already contained the first indications of an upcoming premium version with additional stickers and emojis ( we reported ). But as the leak of the premium version shows, which is currently only available to a limited number of users in a closed beta version on iOS, it will offer much more features than just new stickers and emojis.

Update June 12th: Telegram founder Pavel Durov has officially confirmed Telegram Premium, which is coming in June (see HERE).

At the moment it can be assumed that the premium version of the messenger, which according to current knowledge will cost around 5 euros, but the price may be set lower, will be available to all users in the near future, as the closed beta version already seems very mature.
You could look forward to the following new and improved functions:

4GB upload size

In the future, Telegram Premium subscribers will be able to upload files up to 4 GB in size. Non-Premium users will still have 2GB upload size.

Faster downloads

Regular users will have a speed limit for downloads, premium users will have no restrictions in this regard.

Speech to text conversion

A really good feature: Often you can't listen to a voice message straight away, which is why the premium version has a function to convert speech into text. The quality of the translation naturally depends on factors such as the dialect and clarity of pronunciation.

No advertising

Ads in larger Telegram channels will be hidden for premium users.

Exclusive stickers and emojis

Compared to the stickers available now, these stickers will have additional effects. Telegram also promises to update the stickers monthly.

Advanced chat management

Premium users have the ability to set a default folder for chats, automatically archive chats, and hide new messages from users who are not in their contact list.

Profile badges

Premium subscribers receive a star icon next to their name in the conversation window, visible to all users.

Animated profile photos

At the moment this feature is still free for everyone to use, but will soon only be available in the premium version: animated video avatars.

Premium app icon

Telegram Premium users get new app icons to personalize their smartphone interface more.

Unique reactions

In addition to the 16 reactions to messages currently available, premium users get exclusive animated reactions.

Doubling the limits

Premium users can join up to 1000 channels, pin 10 chats, reserve 10 public username links, save up to 400 GIFs and 200 stickers, use 140 characters in biolink, use captions up to 4096 characters, access 20 folders, up to 10 Group chats per folder and add 4 connected accounts with different phone numbers.

For the expected price of around 5 euros per month, a whole host of new features are offered. Now the only question is: Will users want to pay for it or ignore the premium version? And will WhatsApp follow suit and also add similar functions?
