A well-known chain letter from Facebook has now found its way to Telegram after it was briefly spotted on Instagram and is called the “Telegram rule”. The chain letter is again about the use of the photos, deleted messages and privacy. The fact is: Nothing in these “I get upset and protest posts” is true.

This nonsense has been doing the rounds since at least 2016 and we already   reported several times .
In short: There are no “Statutes of Rome” to refer to, no “Channel 13 News” spoke about it (apparently the only news channel in the world), and copying and pasting a text does nothing, especially not contradictions against Telegram, Facebook or Instagram, which have never decided on such a measure.

Chain letter: Telegram rule (sic!)

Note to the chain letter sharers: TELEGRAM can only be written with an “M”

“Don’t forget that tomorrow the new Telegram rule starts where they can use your photos.
Don't forget the deadline today!!! It may be used in court proceedings in litigation against you. Everything you've ever sent will become public starting today, including deleted messages or photos that aren't allowed. It doesn't cost anything for a simple copy and paste, better safe than sorry. Channel 5 News talked about Telegram's privacy policy change. I do not give Telegram or any other Telegram affiliated company permission to use my images, information, messages or posts in the past or in the future. With this statement, I inform Telegram that it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute or take any other action against me this profile and / or its content. The content of this profile is private and confidential information. Violation of privacy can be punished by law (UCC 1-308- 1 1 308-103 and the Rome Statute. NOTE: Telegram is now a public body. All members are required to send such a note. If you wish, you can copy this version and insert. If you do not post a statement at least once, this tacitly allows the use of your photos as well as the information contained in chats. TELEGRAM DOES NOT HAVE MY PERMISSION TO SHARE PHOTOS OR MESSAGES.”

Chain letter: Facebook rule

“Don’t forget that tomorrow the new Facebook rule starts where they can use your photos.
Deadline today, don't forget! It may be used against you in legal proceedings. Everything you've ever posted will become public starting today. Deleted messages or photos are also not allowed. It costs nothing for a simple copy and paste, better safe than sorry. Channel 13 News talked about Facebook's privacy policy change. I do not grant permission to Facebook or Facebook affiliates to use my images, information, messages or posts, either in the past or in the future. With this statement I draw the attention of Facebook to the fact that it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute or take any other action against me based on this profile and/or its content. The content of this profile is private and confidential information. Violation of privacy can be punished by law (UCC 1-308- 1 1 308-103 and the Rome Statute). NOTE: Facebook is now a public institution. All members must post a note like this. If you prefer, you can copy and paste this version. Failure to post a statement at least once will tacitly authorize the use of your photos and the information contained in profile status updates. DO NOT SHARE. Copy and paste. your new algorithm selects the same few people - about 25 - who will read your posts. Therefore, hold your finger anywhere in this post and “copy” will appear. Click on “copy”. Then go to your page, start a new post and place your finger anywhere in the empty field. “Insert” appears and click on insert. This will bypass the system.”

Chain letter: Instagram rule

Don't forget that tomorrow the new Instagram rule begins, according to which they can use your photos.
Don't forget the deadline today!!!!!!! It may be used in court proceedings in a lawsuit against you. Everything you've ever posted will be published starting today. Also messages that have been deleted or photos are not allowed. It costs nothing for a simple copy and paste, better safe than sorry. Channel 13 News talked about Instagram's privacy policy change. I do not grant Instagram or Instagram affiliated companies permission to use my images, information, messages or posts in the past or future. With this statement, I notify Instagram that it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute or otherwise take action against me based on this profile and/or its content. The content of this profile is private and confidential information. Violation of privacy can be punished by law (UCC 1-308- 1 1 1 308-103 and the Rome Statute). NOTE: Instagram is now a public institution. All members must post such a note. If you want, you can copy and paste this version. If you do not post a statement at least once, you are tacitly allowed to use your photos as well as the information contained in profile status updates. INSTAGRAM DOES NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO SHARE PHOTOS OR MESSAGES.

Note on UCC and the Rome Statute

All empty words! The official-sounding “UCC” and “Rome Statute” are also just made-up pipe dreams: The UCC is the “ Uniform Commercial Code ” – it’s about American commercial law, but has nothing to do with Facebook. The Rome Statute is an international treaty through which the international court of justice is intended to regulate the punishment and prevention of war crimes, the crime of aggression, genocide and crimes against humanity - also nothing to do with Telegram, Facebook or Instagram
