Berlin never sleeps.
At least that's what many con artists seem to think, as the capital took first place among the most annoying telephone numbers (03025555450) for telephone spam last month. Also in March, supposed competitions, insurance companies or electricity providers called those affected and bullied them with multiple calls (030318763023). What is striking is that there were more and more reports that the fraudsters specifically asked for the IBAN (01637875622) and had knowledge of other - albeit outdated - sensitive data of the called party (040299992000). Compared to the previous month, calls from the mobile network increased by almost five percent (29.2 percent). But the landline is still the more popular choice when it comes to annoying spam calls (70.8 percent). Clever Dialer , the spam protection and caller ID app, has once again identified and published the 10 most annoying phone numbers.

The spam phone numbers in March and the comments of those affected:

  • 03025555450 landline from Berlin (spam):
“Constant calls from this number for days. I don't answer and have now blocked her. Based on all the reviews I read, it was a good decision.”
  • 01637875622 Mobile (competition):
“Apparently I concluded a lottery contract that I would not have canceled. I wanted my IBAN, of course I didn’t give it.”
  • 06929917782 landline from Frankfurt a.
    M. (Spam): “Introduced himself as “Volta GmbH” and wanted to speak to my wife. I ended the call immediately and blocked the number after Googling.”
  • 030318763023 landline from Berlin (spam):
“I have been receiving calls from this number for days or anonymously. When I answer, no one talks and always hangs up after 3 seconds. I remind people: Never answer the phone with “yes”! This may allow you to complete something you don’t want to do.”
  • 040299992000 Landline from Hamburg (Dubious):
“Participant tried to offer me a new electricity tariff. Spoke broken German and tried to conclude a contract. However, to an address where we haven't lived for 12 years. So be careful!”
  • 021332463886 landline from Dormagen (debt collection): “This company, or rather the debt collection agency, keeps calling. Almost three or more times every day. I blocked them and I still see them calling all the time. If you have problems with them, then block them and write them a letter!”
  • 0208306730 Landline from Oberhausen/Rhineland (Dubious):
“Cost trap that relates to health insurance, teeth, glasses.”
  • 030257709946 Landline from Berlin (competition):

  • 015215891133 Mobile (competition):
“Call and say you took part in a competition but didn’t win. They would send you documents and then you could lodge an objection via email so that all data would be deleted. But first they want to have the bank details. I said no and the lady got upset and hung up.”
  • +441767660535 Landline from the United Kingdom (cost trap):
“Calling from the United Kingdom about an alleged lottery contract. I immediately hung up and blocked the number.”
