The 79-year-old truly deserves this joking award!
A failure to wear a seat belt led to the unmasking of the “Forger of the Year” in Bochum on February 5, 2019.
What happened?
At around 10:40 a.m., a motorcycle police officer noticed a right-hand drive car with an English license plate on Robertstrasse whose driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
The German-speaking senior sitting behind the wheel handed the officer a document called “International Driving Document” with an accompanying plastic card.
The man also stated that he lived in England and the USA. In this regard, he identified himself with an ID card that showed that the cardholder lives in California, is 79 years old and has a doctorate.

It's being re-drilled!
It quickly became clear to the police officer that the documents were forged and, after receiving the instructions, he began to “drill deeper”:
- “At which university did you get your doctorate?” – “I can’t remember exactly!”
- “What was their title?” – “That’s gone, but I was dealing with international law!”
A little later, the police officer stopped asking and accused the driver of misuse of titles.
But that was not all!
The car is not insured in England, there has been a tax liability there since 2013 and the technical inspection has not taken place for almost seven years.
In addition, the senior admitted that he had never had a driving license and that he had been driving with his imaginary documents for years. He also made it clear that “his” doctorate made him appear significantly more trustworthy during inspections.

But who is the forger really?
This only came to light at the station – after his fingerprints were evaluated.
It is a case of a habitual fraudster known to the police, who is actually 79 years old and does not live in England or sunny California, but in our neighboring city of Dortmund.
After the extensive ad recording, the senior returned there, but not by car and also without the many IDs, documents and plastic cards that had been confiscated. She and the 79-year-old will still give the investigators a lot of work.
