Once again I was sitting at the head of my table and thought to myself that after two posts I could actually let things go a bit, but then came the thing with the death line, in modern German “deadline”, of course it could also be a death line for international calls It is often said “please hold the line”.
Hmm, if you consider both, then with the next one you're "please hold the line" - maybe a little more cautious - "Hold the line" and then zap, caller hit with the deadline. It's like the trainees in electrical engineering: "Here, just a minute.." "Ok, now." "Great, no electricity on it...".
Now that makes me curious, are traps set up behind the scenes, self-fishing and foot-firing systems? And why and when and at all?
It starts - I'll start from the beginning, at the beginning, not at the very beginning with the creation of the world, then rather further back, where it starts with the deadline, which in turn is not right at the beginning, that would be stupid, actually everything is something has to do with Dead, pretty much at the end.
Where was I? Oh yes, I wanted to start, then let's see...
Just in case… which one? Nominative accusative genitive dativ? The fall of Carthage? The Prague defenestration, which is somehow a fall? The JFK case? The one who comes after pride? No idea, it's not said, it's just put in the room, the virtual writing room, "Just in case...", without any further explanation, very dubious. But research showed that it is not Stubbe's, because that would be "case by case", nor is it Matula's, because, well, who knows? Right, that would be “a case for two”…
Anyway, let's move on.
“Deadline tomorrow!!!”
Ah, tomorrow the death lines start, uh, which tomorrow? Really now, I can't work like this! Could it be a little clearer? Let's wait and see, it will definitely become clear as the text continues, the hope and so on...
To put it plainly – huh?
“Everything you have ever published can be made public from tomorrow onwards. Even messages that have been deleted or photos that are not allowed. It costs nothing to just copy and post, it’s better to be safe than sorry.”
A wonderful compilation, a lot of panic is stirred up without even beginning to indicate in these three sentences what it is about, where or how I must have published something in order to fall into this insidious, nasty trap. Personally, I find the combination of “Everything YOU have ever PUBLISHED” and “from tomorrow onwards, to the PUBLIC” particularly entertaining. Isn’t the real purpose of a publication that it gets to the public? If I don't want it, then I won't publish it, what he means is a diary...
I notice that there are a few sentences in it that I'll look at again at the end.
"Channel 13 News talked about the change in Facebook's privacy policy." WHOOPWHOOP, we have the first clues. Channel 13 News, check it out now, that's interesting, or looks interesting, unfortunately I can't read the writing, at least not on the website on the Facebook page it's Latin letters, but unfortunately I can't understand the language, at least I know it I where they are – in the Maldives, well who wouldn’t want to be there.
But there are also some “Channel 13 News” in the USA, but there is only a maximum of one in them - a reference to this text, but only AFTER publication on Facebook. What's a bit confusing now, let's try to sort it out.
A warning is distributed indicating that Channel 13 News has already reported on Facebook's privacy policy change, then Channel 13 News reports for the first time that they are said to have reported on it? Damn ax who has bent space-time again?
Let's move on before we get lost in time travel theories.
There are a number of “Channel 13” spread across the USA and the chance of news being broadcast there isn’t that bad, which was of course cleverly chosen, at least in the original text, because there is no “Channel 13” here News”, there needs to be more substance here, so which “Channel 13 News”, in which US region did the corresponding station report on it? But of course, a “news channel” seems serious at first and in connection with Facebook and data protection guidelines, you can trigger a slight rumbling of panic in the stomachs of the first readers.
But at least we already know that publications, including those that have been deleted, on Facebook are something.
“I do not give Facebook – or any organizations affiliated with Facebook – permission to use my images, information, messages, posts, from the past and in the future. With this statement I can point out to Facebook that it is strictly forbidden to publish, copy, distribute or use any other action against me on or from this profile or my content. The content of this profile is private and contains confidential information.”
Wow, just wow, not because of the content, but because of the wording, which is a punch in the stomach of every text creator. Thanks to “Channel 13 News” (see link above) we know the English version of the article. If you take it and run Google Translate over it, you get a linguistically cleaner version than the one in front of us, not perfect, but way better. So it was either translated by hand, but the sentence structure and expression were not corrected, or the new Google Translate has become much better. It's a shame that my suspicion that it had been translated with Google wasn't easily proven, well, you can't always be lucky.
But what can you achieve with the text? Well, nothing - it's legally irrelevant, but it has an important role in the overall structure of the article, it fills lines and captivates the reader, any characters who may be insecure are finally drawn under their spell.
Now we come to my favorite part:
“Violation of privacy may be punished by law (UCC 1-308 1-308 1-103 and the Statute of Rome).”
UCC? What is that? Uniform Commercial Code – this is about American commercial law. Also nice, but it doesn't really have anything to do with data on Facebook, especially not with data from German users.
Well, then let's take the "Statute of Rome" that will definitely help, at least it sounds important, and it is, it is an international treaty through which the international court of justice punishes and prevents war crimes, the crime of aggression , genocide and crimes against humanity. So the international agreement for the international court in The Hague. Well, at least something international, but with no connection to Facebook at all, so it's a shot in the oven, oh man.
Why is this my favorite part when it doesn't do anything? Because it shows once again how easy it is to impress people, throw around any abbreviations, if necessary an old medium wave frequency with a station abbreviation, the more simple minds will eat out of your hand.
We continue with the wise insight:
“Note: Facebook is becoming a public company” – how now public company? Facebook is a social network operated by Facebook Inc., a company with Mark Zuckerberg as CEO.
Now all that's missing is the most important part, which we've already done with stirring up panic, now we have to channel it accordingly, which is done with:
“All members should write this in their profile. If you want, you can copy and paste this version. If you do not post this instruction at least once, they may use your photos and the information contained in profile status updates. Do not share. Copy and paste."
Exactly, because Facebook has nothing better to do than scroll through the profiles of all around 2 billion users and look for exactly THIS post, because just imagine the users' horror if they found out that Facebook was only there to find this post. built an algorithm that filters whose posts were secured by this one post, the horror would be overwhelming, Cambridge Analytica is all I'm saying.
Very important “Don’t share. Copy and paste." That's right, because that's the only way to get what it says at the very beginning, "Deadline tomorrow!" By copying and pasting, the current date is always on the pages of those who spread it for one day, so it stays relatively up to date , even though this thing first appeared on the internet in a modified form around 6 years ago. That's how you always keep it alive, because someone is always sharing it.
The fact that verbally war-like conditions prevail on Facebook due to a lack of tolerance, respect and behavior means that the statements made are still a matter for the state judiciary, provided they are at all relevant under criminal law. It will be a while before a status post on Facebook is enough to bring the author before the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
Of course it makes no sense to follow the request to copy and paste, it has no legal effect whatsoever, but there is so much crap being spread on Facebook that this thing is one of the really harmless and quick fare for us as fake hunters that no one bothers to bother , reworking it lyrically, a look from us “oh that one again” and business as usual. Yes, maybe it's a battle against windmills, but we're happy to do it.
By the way, you are welcome to share this post, so perhaps we can delay the return of the “contradiction to the new data protection guidelines” a little.
