Or not... because “these hackers” have been around since at least 2011 and are not “real hackers” but something completely different.
We again received requests for a text to be shared on social networks. This involves hackers who would post porn on the friends' wall under the user's name. It would then look as if you had sent these suggestive messages yourself. To make sure that this wasn't you, you should share the text on your wall.
The warning reads as follows:
Image in plain text:
WARNING!!!
There are now hackers on Facebook who will post porn on your friends' walls under your name without you knowing about it.
You don’t see it, but all your friends see that it is “your post”. If you get something like that from me... THAT WASN'T ME!!!
Post this on your wall so everyone knows. Copy and SHARE desired!!!
This warning has been going around for years because it's not a hacker posting the mess, but rather the user has fallen into a trap.
So what is it really about?
The affected Facebook user was the victim of a browser extension, an app, a Trojan or even a phishing trap !
So if you unknowingly or unintentionally post pornographic content, you have carelessly clicked on a status post and given your data to a phishing scammer by, for example, logging in again on an external Facebook input mask like this:
These fraudsters usually exploit the trust of Facebook users by sending messages to them through their friends. They then click on the link, such as, is that you in the video , or something similar. The user follows the link, thinks they have been logged out for some technical reason and falls into the phishing trap. Because this external site is not Facebook!
So the “hackers” are not really “hackers”; here, the general term “hacker” is used to warn against phishing fraud. Because if a hacker were at work, he would proceed in a completely different way and would certainly not mess around with individual profiles.
Phishing fraudsters who have obtained the login data of individual Facebook users through successful phishing attempts log in to the profile and then send content in the name of the victim.
