There is no profile viewer. Even if supposed links to such a tool keep appearing.

Facebook users repeatedly stumble across links that lead to a so-called profile viewer. Cyber criminals claim that the tool is able to show the user who is visiting their profile. In fact, such baits are potential traps.

The fact check

It was and is not technically possible to display the users who have visited the profile! Really! Sites that promise something like this are simply lying. At most, users who interacted with their profile the most will be displayed. But usually not even that.

In this case there is a login trap behind it. Anyone who follows the link will be taken to a login mask - supposedly registration is required in order to display a list of profiles that are said to have visited it.

However, if you enter your data here, the cyber criminals will have full access to your account, for example, they can write further postings in your name via the profile viewer and tag your friends. In return, a list is actually spit out. But whether these results are actually what they claim to be is questionable. But before any names or profile pictures are displayed, we get an error message... of course.

By the way: Even if you use alphabet salad for the login mask, you get the alleged list, but nothing else loads here either.

Profile Viewer – This can still happen:

Competition data collector trap

After entering your login details, you won't see who has visited your profile, but will end up in a dubious competition.

But the cards are stacked in this competition too: you can hardly hope to win; if you give up your data, you can look forward to a lot of spam by email, post and telephone.

The Facebook app trap

Fortunately, Facebook is increasingly putting a stop to this method, but you can't be completely safe from it:

In order to see your profile visitors, you should install a specific app within Facebook , which you should give free access to your own profile. This app can then randomly post things on Facebook under your name!

In fact, you often even get a list of the alleged profile visitors, but this is actually just a list of the friends who, for example, have liked or commented on your posts the most, not the real profile visitors!

The Bitcoin Trap

Another variant is the apparently real contributions from the media, which you then see. Celebrity XYZ has discovered or developed a sensational new method to make a lot of money in a short time and now wants to make this method available to all users...

However, these are very risky investments that require real knowledge. You can really lose money here!

Conclusion

To make it clear again: There is no way to see the visitors to your own profile! However, this hope is repeatedly used by criminals to let users fall into various traps with an alleged “profile viewer”.

Tip: If you are not sure whether you are on the real login page, you can try using random letters first. For example: ergsertgrestg@esrt.com and as password detfgdrtbrx. If you can still “log in”, you know it’s a phishing site!
