The comparison of Vladimir Putin with Adolf Hitler has been made very frequently in recent days, even if it is quite uneven. Apparently Time magazine has now taken up the comparison and shows Putin on the current cover, with the photo showing Hitler's inglorious beard through a tear in the middle of his face. However, the cover is just the work of a graphic designer, not the current cover of Time magazine!

The wrong Time cover

Apparently the current cover of the magazine shows Putin as Hitler:

MIMIKAMA
Not a real Time magazine cover

Additionally, “The Return of History” is written on the cover. The wrong cover is also very common on Instagram

The source of the cover

If you look closely, you can see that the author's name is at the bottom right of the image:

MIMIKAMA
A note on the author

With a simple search, the author, a graphic designer named Patrick Mulder, can be found on Twitter. He even shows in a video how he designed one of the three covers.

Patrick Mulder was very surprised that his cover designs went viral, which is why he made a statement about it:

“The picture is one of three I took on the day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
I found TIME's official cover to be uninspired and unconvincing. I wanted to create something that would contribute to the conversation about the invasion of Ukraine and capture the public mood. Originally it wasn't supposed to be a TIME cover. The finished image was so meaningful that I felt it deserved an equally meaningful frame.”

The official cover of Time magazine (see HERE ) also features the phrase “The Return of History,” but with a black and white image of a Russian tank.

Summary

The image does not show a real Time magazine cover, but the work of a graphic designer who was looking for a meaningful frame for the image, which is why he designed it as if it were a magazine cover.
