Become a top fan on Facebook? Well bravo! Let's take another look at a much-derided title.
Facebook is actually serious about the function and gives top fan users a visible advantage! When our first report on July 12th, this was not yet so clear.
So let's first look back: Facebook has been giving different users the title of "Top Fan" on different pages for some time without any clearly recognizable pattern. To do this, the respective site operators must also have activated this feature.

So far, not much has been gained from this “award”. Especially in situations where you didn't even know why you got this title. In this respect, many users on Facebook laughed at the small diamond badge.
Top fan benefits
But it is now clear: Anyone who has become a top fan of a page receives more relevance from Facebook on the corresponding page. This is reflected in the visibility of the comments made.
Depending on the sorting, Facebook has hidden comments from “normal users” and all those fans with the award are automatically given priority. An example :

This now means that the comments displayed are initially from top fans. The comments of these users, regardless of the substance of these comments in the end, are given greater relevance by Facebook.
One might easily get the impression that all other comments made have been hidden, but this is not the case.

See all comments
However, in order to be able to see these other comments, you have to change the sorting. Fortunately, it's quite easy, but it's always tedious if you have to set it up every time.
All you have to do is click on the sorting note above the comment columns. This is either “most relevant”, “top fans” or “oldest” first. After clicking on it, a selection field opens.

You can change the sorting here. If you select “All comments”, all comments will appear again. Completely independent of the diamond awarded.
Conclusion
No matter how much fun you have with the top fan badge, Facebook still prefers those users on pages where they have the rank. Comments from these fans get more visibility, even if they are irrelevant.
