Transport transition: promotion of new cars
More and more people are switching from conventional combustion engines to electric cars or hybrid cars that combine combustion engines and electromobility. By the end of 2030, there will be almost 15 million electric cars and hybrid vehicles on German roads. There is currently a subsidy of 9,000 euros from the state for every new car purchase.
Charging infrastructure is lagging behind
Almost 15 million electric cars is an ambitious goal if you look at the charging infrastructure, which has so far lagged behind. In many places, especially in the east of the Federal Republic, there are hardly any charging stations. For many, a hybrid is the better alternative - even if it is more harmful to the climate than an electric car.
E-scooters: failed alternative?
E-scooters have been available to rent for shorter journeys in many cities for almost three years now. The electrically powered scooters were actually intended to relieve city traffic and be used by consumers for the so-called last mile. But the reality is different: In many places, scooters are knocked over on sidewalks and blocking them. In addition, the prices of e-scooters are not always attractive.
E-bikes: can they replace cars?
In addition, e-bikes are intended to advance the transport transition. The number of e-bikes has increased enormously in recent years. But can electronically assisted wheels be a real alternative to cars? And how far-sighted is the hope of largely replacing cars? The transport infrastructure is still primarily designed for cars.
