On November 18th reported on an incorrectly printed mourning ribbon from the SPD Mülheim an der Ruhr! This caused ridicule and malice, but also the question of how this could happen.
The following wreath was laid on Remembrance Day in the Dümpten district. The ribbon reads: “To the victims of war and persecution” and “SPD sub-district and council faction Mülheim an der Ruhr”. This picture of the mourning ribbon is being spread on social networks:

It wasn't a fake! The mourning ribbon was actually supposed to say “To the victims of war and fascism,” but surprisingly no one noticed this mistake until the wreath was laid. The SPD Mülheim an der Ruhr distances itself on Facebook from the tastelessness of the lettering on the wreath for Remembrance Day on November 16, 2019 in Mülheim-Dümpten.
On November 20th, 2019 there was an update from the SPD Mülheim an der Ruhr. This says:
+++ Mistakes happen and are human +++
As has now become known, the wrong bow on our funeral wreath is not due to sabotage, but rather to human error. This is a chain of unfortunate circumstances, because although it passed through several hands, unfortunately no one noticed the error. After the saying was sent over the phone, an employee at the nursery wrote down the word incorrectly and sent it to the printer.
It is important for us to know for sure that this was a mistake and that no one wanted to sabotage the commemoration. Mistakes, no matter how unimaginable and embarrassing for everyone involved, happen and that's exactly what separates us humans from machines. Despite the press reports, we would like to make it clear that we never intended to sue the nursery, but rather sought legal advice so that we could act quickly and legally in the event of a possible act of sabotage.

It is with the utmost regret that we learned today that the nursery employee is doing very poorly due to the unfortunate incident and the media hype and has now resigned from her job. This in turn means that the nursery can no longer fulfill its orders and its entire existence is at risk.
We encourage the florist to take up her job again and, despite all the media hype, to see it as a series of mistakes. Everyone involved made mistakes or simply didn't notice them. We would be happy to invite the florist for a coffee and a chat if she agrees to do so.
But we have all definitely learned from the incident and will change processes in the future and introduce appropriate control mechanisms.
We appeal to members of the press and also to commentators on social networks to please consider the incident to be an extremely regrettable oversight and not add further fuel to the fire.
We apologize for the great excitement and deeply regret that the extremely unfortunate incident has pushed the memory of the victims of war and fascism into the background. For decades, we as the SPD have been remembering the victims and also committed ourselves to the fight against the right.
At this point we expressly invite all citizens and press representatives to take part in the memorial events and Stolperstein tours organized by us. (Source: SPD Mühlheim an der Ruhr / Facebook )
