Be careful, fake craftsmen are currently on the move again. Older citizens in particular are the target of trick theft.
As the Osnabrück police announced in a press release, fraudsters are out and about again, posing as craftsmen:
An 84-year-old woman fell victim to a trick theft on Wiesenstrasse on Monday afternoon. An unknown person rang the doorbell of the apartment building around 12 p.m. and pretended to be a craftsman. He had to check the water pressure. He sent the elderly woman into the bathroom, handed her the shower head and told her to observe the pressure of the water. She had to take off her jewelry first, otherwise there would be a risk of getting a “shock”.

The con artist then left to carry out the alleged work. He left the old lady sitting in the bathroom with the door closed. After repeatedly calling for the supposed repairman in vain for a long time, the senior citizen left her bathroom. The craftsman was no longer there, but jewelry and cash were missing.
The scammer can be described as follows:
- masculine
- approx. 180 cm tall
- slim stature
- dark complexion, southern or Indian
- black hair
- spoke accent-free standard German
- wore street clothes, not work/craftsmen's clothing
