Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat,... the number of apps on which you can post and exchange messages and pictures is already too much for many users, and not everyone wants to create their own account on every platform. The news is all the better that things will soon become less complicated: the major platforms will be merging into a single app in the near future!

Meeting of the “Giants”

Lt. Information from various news agencies (UPI, Bloomberg, AGF, AP) came on March 25th. in Silicon Valley/USA for a special kind of summit meeting

  • Mark Zuckerberg (CEO Facebook),
  • Kevin Systrom (CEO Instagram),
  • Evan Spiegel (CEO Snapchat) and
  • Jim Balsamico (WhatsApp developer)

exchanged with each other.

Even if the details of those discussions are not yet known, a common goal was worked out that should make online life more pleasant in the future.

The reason for that meeting

Observant users will have noticed that in the last few weeks and months one app has repeatedly copied another.

On March 9, 2017, Heise.de reported that FB Messenger was copying Snapchat with “Messenger Day,” a function that allows messages and pictures to disappear after 24 hours. inFranken.de Facebook itself also has options with stories and filter functions that are otherwise only known from Snapchat. As much as this looked like a clumsy copy of that function, these steps seem logical when you know the following: Apparently Zuckerberg and Spiegel have been in negotiations for several months to merge both companies.

All under one roof

As has been announced so far, the apps from Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and WhatsApp will be combined into one big app!

Although only the legal aspects of this large cooperation have been discussed so far, the programmers are apparently already hard at work: A few hours ago, the first advertising images were published in various closed technical forums, which should at least show the planned icon for the new app:

If you can't find the app in the picture, you can see it in more detail here:

The programming has begun

According to a participant in a technical forum with the pseudonym “Trantor,” who says he also programmed the app himself, it is said to have the name “ NIMROD ” and is already in a closed beta version.
Version 3.02 of the app has already been spotted on various torrent sites, but these are more likely to be virus-infected fakes.

The end of the Babylonian language confusion

The name of that app, it should be said, is interesting in that “Nimrod” is said to be the alleged builder of the Tower of Babel, which led to the biblical “Babylonian language confusion”. With this app, the different “languages” of communication on the Internet are brought together again: one app for everyone.

When is the time?

Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a little longer until we can all enjoy this app. as the deadline in a forum, which was also confirmed by the users “Lumpi” and “The Mountain”, but it is unlikely that the app will be released today.

At least we will have fewer icons on our smartphones in the future.
