The claim
A screenshot of an article and a video are said to show that Ukrainian refugees burned down their hosts' house.
Our conclusion
Both the screenshot and the video are demonstrably fakes to incite hatred against Ukrainian refugees.
Due to Russia's war against Ukraine, there are currently many refugees in this country.
And certain circles that have been spreading fakes about refugees for years are not afraid to now spread fakes about Ukrainians too. This includes a supposed screenshot of an article and a video, both of which are proof that BILD reported on Ukrainians who carelessly burned down their hosts' house. But the screenshot and the video are relatively easy to see through fakes!
The widespread screenshot
This supposed screenshot of a BILD article is circulating in relevant circles:

Visually, the screenshot looks like it was taken with a smartphone. The photo shows a burning house and the caption reads: “ Ukrainian refugees wanted to burn a Russian flag, but ended up burning down the house where they were staying .”
The article never existed!
Error No. 1 in the screenshot is the “Ukraine Crisis” section at the top right, which does not even exist on the BILD website. A search for the alleged article is also unsuccessful. And then there is the long headline: Anyone who knows BILD articles knows that the headlines are not such little novels, which Timo Lokoschat, deputy editor-in-chief of BILD, also on Twitter :
However, the photo actually shows a fire in the Hesse town of Walluf - on July 18, 2013 . A roof truss fire in Oberwalluf caused significant material damage amounting to 300,000 euros, but no one was injured.
The video
of the video clearly made an effort to make it look like a video report from BILD - but they only made an effort, i.e. grade 5, because it is already visually obvious that it does not come from BILD.
At the beginning you can see a scene that was shot in the evening, visible in the dark blue sky: You can see a Tesla coil whose lightning causes a Russian flag to begin to burn.

The watermark in the video is @marek415, which is Marek Novotný's Instagram account (see HERE ). In fact, he published several videos with Tesla coils, but the video with the Russian flag can no longer be found there, and for good reason:
In response to an inquiry from AFP , he explained that he made the video as a silent protest against Russia's war against Ukraine and uploaded it to YouTube and Instagram two months ago, but deleted it from Instagram and set it to private on YouTube because he was on several Fakes became aware of the video he shot in the Czech Republic and doesn't want it to be further misused for fakes.
Next, the fake BILD video shows the burning house - during the day (!), while the Tesla coil was clearly filmed in the evening, so a classic logical connection error:

We already referred to this above: The video shows a roof fire in the Hesse town of Walluf - on July 18, 2013 . No one was injured in the fire.
The final section of the video shows a young woman in a charred room. She explains, crying, that this was where her mother, who was suffering from cancer, slept.

This part of the video actually comes from BILD - but from a livestream from January 27, 2021 .
This live stream also shows the biggest flaw of the fake video: the entire design.

In the real BILD videos, the logo is at the top left, a banner with the topic is displayed, and a news ticker runs underneath.
In addition, all letters are always capitalized. In the fake video, the logo is at the top right, the message runs in a ticker with white letters on a red background, upper and lower case letters are used.
Conclusion
Both the alleged screenshot and the video were made solely to incite hatred against Ukrainian refugees and use BILD's optics to appear more credible.
