Before Christmas, WDR released a rewritten version of the song “My grandma rides a motorcycle in the chicken coop”.
This new version was adapted to the climate discussion and sometimes contained harsh statements such as “environmental disaster”. The song was sung by a children's choir from Dortmund.
It contains passages such as “My grandma rides a motorcycle in the chicken coop. That's a thousand liters of super every month. My grandma is an old environmental pig." or "My grandma drives up to the doctor's in an SUV and runs over two grandpas with walkers."

This video has now been deleted. The reason for this is a shitstorm that swept across WDR.
WDR, how pathetic is that? pic.twitter.com/bUcwNiIOHt

The allegations: WDR is exploiting children and dividing generations with the song. WDR is in no way helpful with this video.
Environmental mess according to WDR satire
After the deletion, WDR spoke out again and stated that the song and the video were intended to be a satire:
The satire “Our grandma rides a motorcycle in the chicken coop” published by WDR 2 here triggered very different reactions. At best, this is also the sense of a satire; it is not a journalistic commentary, but rather an exaggeration of a topic (here: the sometimes hysterical climate discussion). However, we are concerned about the accusation that the children involved may have been “instrumentalized”. This is absolutely not the case, but we have nevertheless decided to delete the video because the suggestion that WDR 2 had instrumentalized the children in the choir is unbearable for the editorial team.

The discussion about the video has now entered the second round: opponents of the environmental mess video accuse WDR of saying that the declaration as satire is just an excuse.
Other social media users see the entire shitstorm as just a set-up and cannot understand the outrage.
At the same time, you can find comparisons where satire should definitely apply and why the same rules don't apply to this video.
Satire is obviously allowed NOTHING when it comes to driving, but EVERYTHING when guys like #Nuhr attack 16 year olds.

Finally
Yes, WDR published this video. There are now also various sharepics on social media that are being distributed.
The hashtag Umweltsau is also being hotly debated on Twitter, so one can assume that this topic will remain active for a few more days.
