The claim

At a current Trump rally, neo-Nazis are said to be seen with a Jesus Trump picture.

Our conclusion

The photo is neither real nor current. The original dates back to 2010 and was taken during a Nazi rally in Knoxville. A historical marker can be seen in the background in the original. The Jesus-Trump image can be found, among other things, in articles that talk about Trump and his evangelical electorate.

It is becoming increasingly clear that Donald Trump wants to run again in the US presidential election in 2024. It is also no secret that his electorate includes both right-wing conservatives and strict evangelical Americans. A photo of US Nazis that is suggested to be from a current Trump rally is not only 12 years old, but has also been edited and has nothing to do with the former US president.

This is the photo shared on social networks:

The photo is often commented on with “Trump Rally” (in German: Trump rally), one user writes:

“You have your Nazi swastikas, Sieg Heil Hitler salutes, people wrapped in Confederate and Nazi flags. But I think the icing on the cake is the massive portrayal of Trump as Jesus Christ, their savior.”

Not negligence on the part of the US Nazis, but a trick > Old, edited photo

Already in the photo that has been circulated, it is noticeable that the swastika is mirror-inverted. This is not negligence on the part of the US Nazis, but a trick of the fake creator, because it is more difficult to find the original from mirrored images.

The real image, which is not a Jesus Trump, but a historical marker of the Treaty of Holston located in Knoxville, Tennessee .
It is used again and again in articles, for example HERE in an article about the role of women in nationalists:

Although the article above is from 2019, the photo is much older. A discussion on Reddit discusses the photo and also suggests that it was taken after the 2016 US elections, but it turns out that it must have been taken in 2010, when US Nazis in Knoxville held a rally at this location .

In a YouTube video of the rally from August 2010, the woman in the foreground can be seen from second 20 onwards, clearly identifiable by her tattoo on her arm.

Summary

The photo is neither real nor current. The original dates back to 2010 and was taken during a Nazi rally in Knoxville. A historical marker can be seen in the background in the original. The Jesus-Trump image can be found, among other things, in articles that talk about Trump and his evangelical electorate.
