Not accept the friend request from a certain “Ute Lehr”? A chain letter was brought back from obscurity!

Virus, hacker, all your contacts are affected! These are the ingredients that make up the chain letters surrounding the dubious friend requests from Marcel Hohmann , Hannes Bochtler and of course Ute Christoff and Ute Lehr .

Can't find anything, is this fake?:

Please tell all the people on your list not to accept the contact “Ute Lehr”! This is a virus (via WhatsApp) that destroys the entire hard drive and downloads the data. If one of your contacts catches it, you will also be affected because it eats its way through the list! If the number 01719626509 calls you, don't answer it! Is a hacker and all your contacts will be affected too! It was also confirmed by EUROP1 and SAT1 this morning!
Forward!!

The fact check

As already mentioned, this is a chain letter or a fake, also known as a hoax. It started with a certain Moritz Häupl in 2011. After that, more and more stories about dubious friend requests began circulating.

One of these fakes was named Ute Christoff and at some point this became Ute Lehr.

Here's the whole history:

It all started with Moritz Häupl:

DANGER!!!
Someone who calls himself Moritz Häupl sends friends requests to children here on FB. Pretends to be a 12-year-old, but is actually a 48-year-old pedophile! ! ! He is known to the police, so please be careful!!!!!!!!!PLEASE COPY AND FORWARD!!!!!!!!!!!

August 2011

It continued with the name: Christian Wick. In August 2011, a Facebook user published the following status post:

Please tell everyone on your list not to accept Christian Wick It destroys your hard drive and takes down the data. If one of your contacts catches him, you will also be affected because he will eat his way through the list, so copy that and put it on your wall.

September 2012

In September 2012 there was another status post and Christian Wick became Marcel Hohmann:

Please tell all the people on your list not to accept contact with Marcel Hohmann , it's a virus (via Facebook, etc.) that destroys the entire hard drive and pulls down the data. If one of your contacts catches it, it's you also affected because he eats his way through the list!

October 2013

Another status post is making the rounds. This looks like this:

Please tell all the people on your list not to accept Marcel Hohmann This is a virus (via Facebook, etc.) that destroys the entire hard drive and downloads the data. If one of your contacts catches it, you will also be affected because it eats its way through the list! So copy and send! If the number 065420164 calls you, don't answer it! Is a hacker and all your contacts will be affected too! It was also confirmed EUROP1 and RTL Forward!

If you now read through all the status posts one after the other, you will see that the last one mentioned (October 2013) is a combination of the previous status posts.

April / May 2014

The Facebook hoax finally ends up on “WhatsApp”.

The WhatsApp message in full:

Please tell everyone on your list not to accept Marcel Hohmann” This is a virus (via WhatsApp, etc.) that destroys the entire hard drive and downloads the data. If one of your contacts catches it, you will also be affected because it eats its way through the list! so copy and send””!!! If the number 065420164 calls you, don't answer it! Is a hacker and all your contacts will be affected too! It was also confirmed EUROP1 and RTL Forward!

October 2014

Now “Marcel Hohmann” suddenly became “Domenik Beuting”:

Please tell everyone on your list not to accept Domenik Beuting This is a virus (via WhatsApp, etc.) that destroys the entire hard drive and downloads the data. If one of your contacts catches it, you will also be affected because it eats its way through the list! so copy and send!!! If the number 065420164 calls you, don't answer it! Is a hacker and all your contacts will be affected too! It was also confirmed EUROP1 and RTL Forward!

July 2015

Moritz Häupl , Marcel Hohmann , Christian Wick and Domenik Beuting suddenly became Ute Christoff:

January 2017

And Ute Christoff now became Ute Lehr!

All these alleged viruses with different names that “eat through” the contact lists and supposedly destroy the hard drives are just chain letters or hoaxes.

There is absolutely no truth to the claims! The attack on the hard drive [sic] was just as out of thin air as were the confirmations from EUROP1 and SAT1.
