There are currently recommendations again according to the Austrian vaccination plan. Vaccinations against shingles, measles, diphtheria, tetanus, polio and TBE are currently available. In the Donaustadt primary care center (Vienna), vaccinations are also carried out without prior registration and there is usually only a very short waiting time. Of course, information about these vaccinations will also be provided on social media. Not always to the satisfaction of some fellow human beings, who speak out loudly and often in a rude and indelicate manner.
“It is often shocking what we have to read in the comments. There's everything there, from crazy smiley faces to accusations of mass murder to real verbal threats and attacks. We delete the worst posts, but I always ask myself: What goes on in people like that? Even if you have a different opinion, it doesn't have to degenerate into such threats and insults."
The medical director of the PHC Center Donaustadt is shocked by the verbal insults that she and her team often read.
She calls for more restraint and more humanity when communicating online. https://www.phc-donaustadt.at/
Ignorance about vaccinations is huge and scary
Ignorance and fear of vaccinations is a global phenomenon, and not just since the Corona pandemic.
“Ignorance about vaccinations is huge and frightening. Conspiracy theories are booming everywhere and making educational work more difficult. Vaccinations are one of the most successful medical treatments ever and have already saved billions of people. As a doctor, I can only say that we find that many people have misconceptions about the vaccinations, their enormous effectiveness, but above all their minimal side effects. This ignorance led to a sharp increase in the number of anti-vaccination activists and conspiracy theorists. They try to unsettle people by spreading false information and actively and aggressively fighting those who work for people’s health every day,” explains the doctor.
“If there is a different opinion, at least don’t spread false information or even hatred and malice,” asks Dr. Ewald asks for more insight and understanding and assures us that we will continue to vaccinate according to the latest medical standards because vaccinations are a safe, effective and cost-effective way to prevent serious diseases.
