Heartbreaking!

Who is this little girl and how does this story come about? There were a lot of requests for this video:

This little girl's name is Vasilina Knutzen and she comes from Moscow. She was born without arms and was therefore given up for adoption by her birth parents because they felt the physical disability was too much for her.

The Knutzen family adopted the girl and gave her a perfect start in life. She was and is encouraged and challenged.

When Vasilina's adoptive mother posted videos of her daughter learning to discover the world without arms, the little girl became world famous.

The video above is a summary of Vasilina's development over eight months. These pictures show a little girl who bravely conquers the world with a handicap, painting, playing, running, running, like all little children in this world.

Millions of people around the world saw these pictures and, like us, were fascinated by the enchanting little lady. How well she deals with her disability, which doesn't really seem to be a disability for her.

She only wears a helmet when she runs and rages, because without arms it is much more difficult for her to keep her balance and when she falls, she cannot catch herself without arms.

A Russian politician also saw these pictures and called Vasilina disgusting and denied her the right to live. Other people also insulted the brave child and her parents.

This caused a small scandal in Russia and the Russian broadcaster NTV-Russia reported on the girl and asked some people to give the child a few encouraging words.

Among them was the former top Austrian athlete and coach Herbert Pichler, who showed the girl in a wonderfully touching video message that she alone determines where her limits are. And not only that, he offered to train her to make her life a little easier and strengthen her balance.

Not just lip service!

That wasn't just lip service, because Vasilina and her 14-year-old brother, who relies on prosthetic arms and legs, are currently in Austria to train with Herbert Pichler. In Lietzen (Austria) they are now learning techniques with which they can strengthen their balance and with which they can continue to work in Russia.

“I don’t want coaches alone to decide what the child should learn. With this method, my child can decide what is possible,” says mother Elmira Knutzen.

In the end, one can only hope that the many positive and good, encouraging reactions will nullify the bad sayings and that something really good will come out of them.

We at mimikama would also like to say a few words to little Vasilina and her family at this point!

Dear Vasilina,

Don't let anyone show you your limits except yourself. You are a very enchanting girl with an imagination and strength that shows us all what we are really made of as humans.

You are valuable, special and no one has the right to judge you.

Live your life and maybe show us something from it every now and then.

Dear Knutzen family,

stay as brave as before and thank you for giving your children these opportunities that other disabled children do not get.

They show us vividly how important love, trust and courage are.

Real heroes aren't in capes, sometimes they're in little girls with no arms and their families!

We wish you all the luck in the world, especially at Easter!
