An Aldi is stormed by a crowd... but you can't see any panic buying caused by the new coronavirus in the video!

A video shows crowds of people storming an Aldi - allegedly panic buying because of SARS-CoV-2.

In fact, water, pasta and disinfectants are sold out in many places, but this video is not current!
It is from 2011 and shows a special sale on electronics at Aldi.

A video is repeatedly uploaded to social media that supposedly shows a crowd storming an Aldi branch; It is claimed that this is a case of panic buying triggered by the panic surrounding SARS-CoV-2.

The trigger?

The day before, the video was also posted on Twitter and was widely shared:

The description of the video

A single message that you should stay at home and humanity turns its wheels.

Of course, many people assume that this is a recent video of the “storming” of an Aldi branch. However, the user himself already points out in his profile description that not everything he posts is true: “ Stop taking my tweets too seriously ”.

He himself probably didn't expect such a reaction rate to his tweet and made it clear again on the same day:

CHECK SOURCES and don't believe everything without thinking critically. Fake news should be a school subject.”

And he's right! The video is from 2011 and shows a special sale on electronic goods at Aldi!

The video was uploaded to YouTube on January 31, 2011, the description reads: “ On January 30, 2011 there was a special sale of PCs, cell phones, printers, etc. at ALDI in Kiel.

The uploader of the video on YouTube also noted that his material was being misused for false reports and added “ This video has NOTHING to do with the Corona virus” to the description of the video.

Conclusion

We agree with the Twitter user without exception and would simply like to quote him again here:

Some Twitter user posts some video with some Corona caption and 95% eat it like Russian bread.
CHECK SOURCES and don't believe everything without thinking critically. Fake News should be a school subject.
