An old video shows footage of several people vandalizing an H&M store in early 2018.

In the video, several people can be seen knocking over clothes racks and rioting. It is currently being shared on Facebook and gives the impression that it is a current case in Germany:

Wonderful This...joie de vivre is something we don't see so often among us Germans anymore.

The fact check

In previous status posts it was suggested that the people shown were refugees in Germany. This is incorrect information.

These people actually rioted in an H&M store at the beginning of 2018, but in South Africa.

Welt , they are demonstrating because of a promotional photo in which a dark-skinned boy wears a hoodie with the words “Coolest monkey in the jungle.”

The company's branches in South Africa were devastated. H&M then closed its branches at short notice. H&M said no customers or employees were injured during the demonstration. But their safety comes first. The branches were reopened shortly afterwards with increased security precautions.

H&M withdrew the advertising photo and apologized. “The company strongly believes that racism and prejudice, whether intentional or unintentional, are unacceptable.”

Conclusion:

The video was taken out of context and shared on Facebook without any background information. This creates a current and local impression that the scene in question only recently happened in Germany.
