A few days ago we reported on fraudsters on the Vinted sales platform who use a huge number of accounts and a perfidious trick to sell non-existent goods and circumvent buyer protection (see HERE ). But the company is already working on measures to curb this fraud.

In a detailed statement, Vinted commented on the allegations that nothing was being done against fraudsters. It is emphasized that additional security measures are already being worked on, but details are not being communicated publicly so that fraudsters do not use them to their advantage.

C2C online platforms become more popular, the risk that these platforms will be targeted by fraudsters also increases. The safety of platform members has always been Vinted's top priority and security teams work daily to ensure the community has the best possible protection. For this purpose, the security measures are regularly checked and improved, and new tools for secure transactions on the platform are developed in order to be able to counteract emerging fraud methods in a timely manner.

Vinted is aware of the expired tracking link scheme mentioned. Additional security measures to curb this scam are already being worked on. The details of how to deal with this type of fraud cannot be discussed in detail as fraudsters could use this information to their advantage. Inquiries from affected members who have used Vinted's buyer protection will be reviewed by the support team.

If the said fraud scheme could be validated by the CS, appropriate refunds will be issued. Vinted points out that, in accordance with the applicable general terms and conditions, inquiries should be reported via the Vinted platform so that buyer protection can take effect - regardless of which payment service provider the trade was processed through.

In order to trade safely on online platforms, it is also advisable to follow a few general tips before purchasing. This includes, among other things, checking the price-performance ratio offered, the ratings of the seller, the quality of the images, product descriptions and other offers, and contacting the member using the chat function if there are any open questions. Vinted users can help increase security on the platform by reporting suspicious content directly to customer service via the app.
