In life you see some things differently at first glance and are amazed at what they really turn out to be.
As in love, there are rose-colored glasses on the Internet that can deceive us. But why is that?
You can certainly say that at first you only want to see what you expect to see. As an example you can take the picture here:
When you see the picture for the first time, you might immediately assume that it has a sexual background.
In reality and at second glance, it shows outlines of scissors of various sizes and types. However, the idea that something must be sexual is more firmly anchored than the image of scissors. The same applies to reports and pictures that you can find on the internet.
You see a picture or read an article, i.e. something that corresponds to your own ideas or expectations, and your thought conjures up corresponding possibilities. In some cases, other people then use this very first impression to write an alternative story or to spread false facts.
They are definitely taking this path with the aim of producing this first symbol in other people's minds, or because they just don't know any better.
Now you might be thinking, “Just because someone jumps doesn’t mean I’ll jump right after them,” or I won’t pursue the same thought. This is true so far, but many people follow this path of thought because it has already been marked as a path.
Here you can take a closer look at the “walkway with snow” example. You usually walk on the path that has already been cleared, or because there are already the first tracks there and make progress easier.
So why should you look for another way?
The explanation is very simple.
In a sea of white blanket, if we stick with snow, you can't tell what's underneath until you clear it. In this case the path could also be on a cycle path, which we use. Unfortunately, we can only really see it when we clear more snow to the side and try to see the path underneath.
It's the same with the reports and pictures on the Internet. At first we don't know everything about the post or the image. Only when we take action ourselves, have doubts about its authenticity and start to check its authenticity, do we think about alternative thoughts about the post or image. It doesn't matter whether one or more people say it's real.
Even if one perceives the "false authenticity" in one's mind, the doubt remains in the subconscious as soon as one begins to doubt at all and that continues until facts are confirmed for or against it.
So why don't we often doubt images or articles that perhaps just barely scratch the truth?
This is the question that could change the world and the Internet.
If more were questioned and the truth was then researched, some fake reports would not even exist. But as long as the easiest path remains the most used, this is more of an illusion than truth.
