Users are currently contacting us saying that they have received Federal Finance Administration What is striking is that the telephone number currently always begins Austria , i.e. +43 It is a computer-generated announcement. Apparently a file with a certain number (XX) was forwarded to the Axel Springer publishing house . But if you tap key 1, you would find out more about it! Current known telephone numbers include: +43711 XXX and +436230 XXX
What happens when you press or type the “1” key?
If the called party complies with the call computer's request and presses or taps the "1" key, they will be connected to scammers.
It could be a so-called advance fee fraud
The victim now receives a file number that should be given to the notary. However, in order for the winnings to be paid out, you must transfer money in advance for any account management fees, for the notary or for the transport of the money in ADVANCE (advance payment fraud).
How should you react to this?
NOT AT ALL! If you hear such an announcement, hang up IMMEDIATELY! Once the money has been transferred, 99.9% of it is lost.
This scam by the “Federal Finance Administration ” is not new!
Here is an example of a call from 2021. It is an alleged profit call from the law firm Bertelsmann and colleagues.
This is a cold call scam!
A cold call scam is a form of fraud in which a person is contacted unexpectedly by phone, email or mail to make them a fraudulent offer. The term “cold call” refers to the fact that contact is made without prior consent or relationship between the fraudster and the person being cheated.
Typically, cold call scammers attempt to convince their victims to send them money or reveal personal information by making false claims or applying pressure. For example, they could pretend to be an employee of a government agency or company and claim that the victim has tax debts or that their computer is infected and needs to be repaired. They might also try to trick the victim into investing in an investment opportunity that doesn't exist or is very risky.
Cold call fraud is illegal and can lead to financial loss and identity theft. It is important to be careful and never give out personal or financial information to unknown people or accept unknown offers.
