There are currently increasing attempts at fraud by false bailiffs, particularly in the area of the county of Hoya.

Call from a blocked number

The unknown people contact the injured party by telephone with a suppressed number and pretend to be a bailiff at a local court. To supposedly legitimize the call, the fraudsters use the first and last name of a real bailiff.

By pretending that outstanding claims arise from a concluded contract or subscription (allegedly a long time ago), the injured parties are tricked into making transfers in order to avoid legal proceedings or seizure of property.

Tips:

  • Be suspicious
  • Do not transfer money or hand over valuables
  • Don't let yourself be put under pressure
  • If in doubt, contact your local police station
  • If there are actual enforcements, you will be contacted by post; a phone call will only be made in absolutely exceptional cases
