There is currently an email circulating whose subject is suspiciously riddled with spelling errors, but whose content looks serious.
The sender of the email also seems serious, because criminals have really made an effort: Apparently the email comes from the “Federal Central Tax Office” and the email promises a tax refund of 694.32 euros.

Warning, dangerous Word file!
Attached to the email is a document in Word format called “tax notice.doc”, which contains dangerous macros: When you open the document, which requires you to activate the macros in Word, a so-called “ Ransomware ” downloaded and installed on the computer.

As a result, the computer is blocked and all personal files are encoded. The fraudsters then demand a payment of a certain amount (usually via Bitcoin) so that the computer and files can be accessed again. But often nothing happens: the computer remains locked, the data is encoded, the money is lost!

Conclusion
It is strongly advisable not to open the email attachment and to delete the email immediately, otherwise the personal files will probably be irretrievably lost if you do not have a backup copy.
Users of other programs such as Libre Office or Open Office are usually safe, as Word macros only work in these programs in a few cases - but you shouldn't necessarily rely on it.
